Focused on Creativity

Michal Chelbin

Michal Chelbin’s (b. 1974) photographs attempt to capture the human stories of everyday life, those that exist in the space between the odd and the ordinary. Her subjects are often dislocated from their usual environments and positioned within casual settings. These portraits are both private and mythical; they become vehicles that address collective and universal themes. Her work has been exhibited widely at Andrea Meislin Gallery, New York; Yossi Milo Gallery, New York; the Tel Aviv Museum of Art; The Photographer’s Gallery, London; the National Portrait Gallery, London; and the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, among many others. Chelbin studied at the Wizo Academy of Design & Education, Haifa.
